Knickerbocker Lane Hits the Emmys Red Carpet

Updated: Aug 27

The Red Carpet? What? Pinch me. I was thrilled to design and make jewelry for my longtime friend and client, Jen, to wear to the 2024 Emmys. Jen is the incredibly talented Executive Producer of the Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives franchise, which has been nominated many times before. This year two different shows from the franchise received nominations!

Before I started Knickerbocker Lane, and knew how to solder, enamel, and create my own jewelry from scratch, I would help find jewelry for Jen's Emmy red carpet looks - yes she has gone many times! Go Jen! This year was different because I was be able to create custom pieces for her to wear down the Red Carpet!

Collaboration Process

Jen and I met and discussed the aesthetic she was looking for and the dresses she was planning on wearing. We met a few times in person and as I made options for her, I’d send her pictures of the designs I was playing with to get her feedback.

Jen had two events to attend for the Emmys:

o   Pre-awards luncheon

o   Traditional evening red carpet

Luncheon Look:

Jen selected a bold, printed wrap dress in a pink cream and black.

o  Jen is petite, loves black and she’s a pearl girl, just like me!

o  I knew I needed to create something that would complement the style of the dress and the scale and colors of the print.

Luncheon Earrings

·       We wanted earrings that would be light and easy to wear with lots of shine and movement and compliment Jen's awesome short haircut.

·       I started with gold ball studs, and then added carved square shaped hematite stones and anchored the design with black pearls. The pearls are lightweight and have a wonderful pink luster, while the hematite has a black metallic shine and is naturally reflective.

Luncheon Necklace

·       We wanted a strong necklace to balance the bold print of her wrap dress.

·       I found an on-trend gold paperclip chain. It was chunky but reserved enough to not compete with her dress. I made her necklace long enough for Jen to wrap it around twice and provide her with options for how she wanted it to lay.

Red Carpet Look:

·       Jen selected a black off the shoulder floor length gown.

·       She had a beautiful crystal encrusted starburst design necklace picked out and amazing bedazzled clutch already picked out. She knew she wanted a bracelet to tie everything together.

·       We also wanted something to fit her petite hands that would be easy to put on and take a up some real-estate on her arm / wrist.

Red Carpet Bracelets:

We went with a combination of three bracelets.

·       Stretch Hematite bracelets with gold balls, I knew the natural metallic shimmer would look great on the Red Carpet. And then to create a little length I added a series of dangling black onyx balls wrapped in Gold-fill to a trio of gold Rolo chains – custom to fit.

·       A vintage black enamel star burst pendant encrusted with diamonds anchored the Rolo chain bracelet at the clasp.

·       The layers allowed her to have the bracelets take up a few inches on her arm and the dangle of the pendant to draw the eye vertically - to compliment the full-length gown.

We had so much fun creating and collaborating and most importantly Jen had a ball at both events and looked and felt amazing!!!
