The Volterra necklace is named for the Etruscan village in Tuscany. This ancient city - some claim it is the oldest in Tuscany - has an amazing history. The city dates from 8th century BC and it has substantial structures from the Etruscan, Roman, and Medieval periods.

The highly decorated Brass beads in this necklace are based off of the Etruscan style and the Boulder Peruvian Opal stone are reminiscent of the rich green hues of the cypress trees, brown soil and light greens of the vegetation at sunrise.
